The cultural tour

In the JXP Programme our JC specially designs an activity for the SM2 students, which is called the cultural tour. This year, we will go to Tiong Baharu and know more about Singapore's local culture. In the morning, we firstly went to the school and attended a lecture on Tiong Bahru's history. The lecturer is a retired reporter and he is really knowledgable. We were informed that Tiong Bahru was full of graves a long time ago. In order to improve citizens' living environment, The British colonial government built the first public housing estate in Singapore. Today we could still see those old houses. After reaching Tiong Bahru, we really saw those buildings. Although they are a little bit out of fashion, they are delicate and still function well. Due to the special design by the clever achitecturers, even in the hot whether you could feel the coolness when you walk though the old buildings. As a tourist attraction, Tiong Bahru is also famous for the specialty shops here. No matter it is a book shop, cafe or a accessory shop, every one is full of artistic features. When you step into one of these shops, you won't want to step out any more. I think Tiong Bahru is a beautiful place really worth visiting.
